<<We have a country hurting here George Bush, does anything matter but your damn war! Fear mongering, dry drunk, coke head wannbe nation builder George Bush doesn't want anything really positive talked about..he wants us in fear, paralyzed...wrapping our windows in plastic sealed with duct tape. WHERE IS THE OUTRAGE?>>
Mainhiker,
There are so many reasons to be outraged at this administration that one can't possibly keep up with them all. This is an administration that regularly votes with the Vatican, Yemen, Saudi Arabia and a couple of other fundamentalist Islamic countries in UN votes on birth control and the rights of women in the world. The issue that they care most about there is, of course, abortion. They say that the only form of birth control that anyone should practice is abstinence. Not just in the US, but all over the world. Even where poverty rules the day, where Aids is rampant, and where overpopulation a serious problem. I'll try to dig up some reports on them if you want. It is astonishing, just astonishing.

I did not say Iraq was a red herring. I said Iraq weapons were a red herring. Just a propaganda tool to sell a war of aggression to the public.

I still remember the torrent of lies spouted during the Vietnam war. A Tonkin Gulf incident that never happened used to get Congress to give then President Johnson sweeping powers to escalate the war at will.

BTW it is not just liberals who oppose Bush on this. Quite a few old right conservatives and professional military are against it as well. The main supporters include the neo-conservatives -- many of them fanatic Likudnik supporters. Richard Perle -- perhaps the craziest warmonger of them all -- served as an advisor for the extreme Likudnik Netenyahu when he ran for Israeli Prime Minister

The drive to war also is being fueled by so called Christian Zionists like Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson as well oilmen such as Vice President Dick Cheney.

maine, this is a politics thread but i have been financially involved with stem cells for a long time. take a look at the anthrogenesis site very carefully and the recent buy out with cellgene. the situation is not nearly as depressing as you make it sound
