The phase-out of Nos. 4 and 6 heating oil officially began on May 23 with the requirement that all new boilers issued permits by the city must burn No. 2 oil. In accordance with Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s PlaNYC goal to make the air in New York City the cleanest of any big U.S. city, burning No. 6 heating oil will end by 2015, followed by the phase-out of No. 4 oil by 2030.
That description of #6 fuel oil does not apply to what JBII produces. I think their fuel could obtain an exemption. Nothing I saw looked like what was described. I do not think you would find any of the metal contaminants and we know the sulfur content is negligible.
The market for what JBII is selling is plenty big. There are plenty of buyers outside of NYC.
The headnote of your post is disingenuous to say the least. NYC is in the process of eliminating #6 fuel oil for heating buildings. That is all #6, not a particular company's #6. There are plenty of other uses for #6 and millions of homes beyond NYC.
AWESOME. That means that JBII has the ONLY type of #6 that is CLEAN and can be burned as a replacement for normal #6. Can everybody spell MONOPOLY.........z
