"Willingness to be directed by others" is not a requisite of success. Quite the opposite.
If Briscoe had been dependent on others to make his decisions for him, he wouldn't have discovered Big Chunk; he would've sat on the sidelines and I imagine he'd still be on the payroll at someone else's mining company.
Sure, whoever capitalizes the Big Chunk drilling will be in the driver's seat, but it is Briscoe's independent judgment and work that have made it possible.
We could probably expect a re-organization when big money partners come in for a JV with BCSP/BH/Tombstone. We have to wait and see who will have more control.
I think it is fairly common in mining business for the partner with the cash to be in charge, but you would be naive to assume an expert geologist opinion won't carry significant weight. BCSP is now in need of a partner or more to bring the cash and lead drilling and exploration efforts. Hay Mountain may be a situation where JB want to finance a drill program and further prove the ore grade so as to get a better more lucrative JV down the road.
