First of all, where did I say I was a social conservative. You also assumed I was a religious zealot at one time as well. You need to listen more and assume less.

Second, Republican = social conservative is your characterization.

Now, if you are referring to social conservatives as the Pat Buchanan wing of the Republican party, then yes, they have introduced very little in the way of social programs. That's what they do, they push for individual responsibility and do not believe it is progressive to rob people of their own innate abilities to make a living.

Whether Bush is a social conservative or not is debatable. He certainly is in some respects, and is not in others. He is conservative, however, overall. Unlike some posters who wish to characterize him differently.

Now, as I have stated before, to attempt to measure a social conservative by the number of social programs they have introduced is specious. You cannot frame the debate according to your own rules.

And finally, I will turn the question over to you. Name the social conservatives that voted against civil rights. Perhaps you have a biography of every politician that voted against civil rights. I don't. And if you will, please characterize the Dems that voted against it. I need to understand your thought process here.
