"InterDigital...today announced that its Board of Directors has initiated a process to explore and evaluate potential strategic alternatives for the company, which may include a sale or other transaction." (7/19/2011)
"InterDigital...today announced that its Board of Directors continues to thoroughly explore and evaluate a broad range of potential strategic alternatives for the company, which may include a sale, to a single buyer or consortium of buyers, of the company or select assets of the company."
The language has changed slightly but is less vague than the original. I think the company has been very careful in its word choice, but if they only did this to appease shareholders then they've taken an unnecessary risk which could open themselves up to a class action type suit. I don't believe that is the case and I believe the company has carefully crafted this PR for the purpose of helping their shareholders.
I may have jumped the gun in my statement as I was trying to show the PR as a positive, not a negative by any means.
