Bragging: I saved a Deli laptop this week, would not boot.
Was starting Win XP, but got to about the 12th driver file and load stalled...
boot sector hard drive failure, I figured.
Pulled out the Deli startup CD and booted from that.
Started the command line.
I had not used Chkdsk in so long, that I did not know the /f switch was obsolete lol, Used the /R switch.
Took about 2 hours, the last 25 percent took nearly an hour
But after that, it booted right up from the HD.
The user had not deleted her IE temp files in about 3 years, and she wondered why it was so slow. "My passwords are in there." LOL. I told her to get a notebook and write them down. She is going to need them. But caved and deleted ALL the temp files EXCEPT her cookies, then wiped all her flash cache junk. I think there were nearly 500 flash cookies on the machine.
Anyway, this weekend I am going to tackle another Deli desktop with a HD failure. Wish me luck.
