Which metal? Aluminum or zinc? Yes, zinc finger proteins help turn genes on or off. As to whether iron transport could be a causal factor, I wasn't aware of that. Thank you for the link.

Given that has a 50:50 chance of being inherited, and is EARLY ONSET (i.e., before age 50), is it really the same disease? It's well researched, so obvious links should be known by now if it was simple.

I'm no expert.

That seems a pretty backwards way to analyze the results. I assume they phrased it this way because a conventional question came out non-significant? Intuitively I'm guessing it might imply that while many patients did better on the drug, some subset also did significantly worse.
