Not quite concierge medical care, saw a TV story about a doctor (but I believe the story indicated this was getting more common) who did not accept insurance. He had lower costs since he did not have a staff and wasn't set up for the billing complexities. His clients seemed to be young, healthier (uninsured) people. I don't recall the exact amount his office visits were but I remember doing some rough calculations in my head and thinking he probably is a low paid doc :-).

>>’m curious to know how many readers of this board have concierge medical care and whether they are satisfied with the service.

I don't.

But I get the feel that I do. I always see the MD on a visit. He always works me in at the scheduled time.

Some of my friends on the east coast tell me they never see an MD but see a PA or NP. IF that were happening here (St. Louis) I would opt for concierge* which is available.

* Cost here is more like $1,000 per yr. Think I have even seen $1,500 per family.

I did, but dropped him. Seemed to me he should have noticed a prominent melanoma on my back in the area he was stethoscoping during a routine check up. When I told him what he'd missed he stopped taking my calls, and refused to refund the six months left on the contract. Cornered him in the parking lot so he did what all conscientious m.d.'s should do - called the cops.
