I agree. Shorting is a necessary "evil". Whether the bulls like it or not, it does create stability and liquidity in the market.
What I do not agree with is the "non-marginable" restrictions placed on stocks below $1. If market makers could short and those with off-shore accounts, then US retail customers should have access to short selling "ALL" securities. Only then would there be true balance in the markets.
