Why the lack of confidence? IMO the run to 58, although very pleasant, was a product of the new dividend, Cramer, some PR by the company and news outlets (thanks NukeJohn) and green market times. It couldn't stick because there was no substance where some was anticipated.....surely most thought LG would renew by now, we'd see a settlement or decision on Nokia and earnings would beat estimates. Nada, so far.
We did see some licensing, but few details. We did get positive vibes from Barcelona, someone estimated 100 meetings, but those likely were seed plantings and will take time to germinate.
The market doesn't crave uncertainty and now that world events dominate the morning headlines, it's easy to see why we are where we are.
The fundamental outlook for IDCC has never looked better and in my 25+ years as a shareholder, I've never been more confident. For the next run to stick however, it needs to be accompanied by milestone achievements announced by the company and nowhere else.
