You're worrying about nothing. The technology is protected well into the future and patents can be renewed.

The ample window of opportunity stretching until 2028 is more than wide enough for 3DICON to make killing after killing in numerous markets. This decade we'll have the pleasure of seeing the launch of CSpace. By the time the patent goes into the public domain 3DICON will be putting the finishing touches on Free Space 3D/Holography and/or we'll see some new kids on the block touting the latest wares. But for now and the foreseeable future, we have US and international protection on an unparalleled, unsurpassed technology, and it looks like that'll be the case for years and years to come.
