While there's nothing negative about this Acer license, the reality of it's value really lies in how much of the wireless communication related equipment they manufacture themselves vs. purchase from outside suppliers. Acer could be buying most of this from third parties that already pay IDCC for the technology. They also could be taking steps to take over manufacturing these components. Of course, IDCC gives us no indication of any potential volume, or whether this is a lump sum deal or per unit deal. Clearly the market likes the deal, and if for no other reason, it's a plus because big names don't sign licenses with just anyone. Acer is a big company and wouldn't take this lightly.
