Helpful, I couldn't agree with your post more.

Haines comments were made "off the cuff" and are not out of character for him. He's probably the least informed individual on CNBC and, IMHO, is only there as the " lovable goof " because he has a great chemistry with Erin who's the real draw to the show.

I hope we just " let his remark die " the quicker it's forgotten, and it has been by almost everyone outside this board, the better.

I wouldn't mind however, if Wave's PR department recommended a question for SKS's next CNBC visit regarding SED's and whether viewers thought it would be a good idea to encrypt their data if they could be assured that it wouldn't impact the performance of their system. :)

helpfulbacteria,

it will take 2-3 years for the average "Joe" to get the idea around having a "trusted identity in cyberspace" and I'm not sure they will ever understand why a device or network they use needs to be secured and trusted as well.

Our financial futures will be made long before "Joe" wakes up to the concept.

Think of the hundreds of thousands of global employees that are already using vetted CAC's (Common Access Cards) in the DOD and PIV-1-4 Cards (Personal Identity Verified cards)for non military personnel.

Those employees already know what it's all about having someone issue you trusted and verified credentials. The next step is to secure the networks and devices that those credentials are going to be used on, and in this "Dreamer's opinion", it's very close to becoming a reality.

On more than one episode of the show, Haines himself had confessed his lack of detailed computing prowess. This simply proved his point that's all. His comment is weightless.

Helpfulbacteria, that is an interesting theory on a backfire effect

and how some may want that.

In the end I agree that Haines opinions don't matter. This was much more of an at the moment thing.

This was a day in the sun so to speak for SKS and Wave Systems that got a great deal of focus from stockholders.

SKS did great. He presented himself well and the concept well. Given the short amount of time I was very impressed.

I suppose the Haines off the cuff remarks that he would never want to use a single I.D. while discussing the poll was a bit of rain on the parade if only because it seemed to frame things in a particular light along with the poll itself which was really put in an odd and quite frankly leading way.

"Should all Internet users be "issued" a single sign-on ID, giving them one sign-on and one password for all Internet access?"

Yes, it would make everything easier
No, it could be dangerous

This is where I said to myself cmon man you are framing this as potentially dangerous? Get real and how did they come up with that? The way the poll was stated it was skewed toward obtaining a "No" answer.

Not a big deal in the end and probably worth a chuckle at some point.
