Supposedly (source is a pay for info one) another issue was Nufarm 2010 North American glysphosphate sales were down 44% due to weather, deflation, and competition. Though it came across my radar, I don't follow the company, so I just threw it out there. But no one here seems to be picking up on it, so I thought I'd mention it one more time. Can't vouch for its accuracy or novelty.

Regards, RockRat (who really must go do other things now, will check back this evening)

EPA clears MON’s SmartStax Refuge-in-a-Bag:

http://finance.yahoo.com/news/Monsanto-Completes-US-prnews-3574354751.html?x=0&.v=1

This product, officially called Genuity® SmartStax® RIB Complete™, allows SmartStax corn growers to comply with government regulations without having to plant a separate insect refuge, which greatly simplifies the farmer’s work. Pending state approvals, it will be launched in the 2012 growing season.

A bag will consist of a 95/5 mix of SmartStax seed and conventional seed (the implicit “refuge”), which is the same ratio that has been required when SmartStax has been used with a physical refuge.

SmartStax RIB will be MON’s top-of-the-line product for the main US corn belt in the Midwest. From a revenue standpoint, it is probably the most consequential new product in MON’s entire pipeline, so today’s announcement is a pretty big deal.

MON is also seeking regulatory approval for a refuge-in-a-bag version of VT Double Pro corn for the Western US market where the corn rootworm is not a problem (#msg-51842878).

For the reason given in a prior quiz on this board (but never officially acknowledged by the company), MON is not developing a refuge-in-a-bag version of VT Triple Pro corn for the Southern US market (#msg-51033222).

MON’s competitor, DuPont, does not yet have a refuge-in-a-bag product to compete with MON’s SmartStax. That’s because DD’s RIB product, called AcreMax 1, lacks protection for above-ground insects (#msg-49509446).
