AcreMax 1, the product for which DD expects approval any day, is not directly competitive with MON’s SmartStax Refuge in a Bag. AcreMax 1 has corn rootworm protection “in the bag,” but it still requires an explicit refuge for the corn borer.

AcreMax 2, which contains “in the bag” refuges for both the corn rootworm and the corn borer and hence is potentially competitive with MON’s RiB product, won’t reach the US market until 2012 at the earliest.
