I guess me and some of my friends are just lucky. Maybe the added levels of intuition, experience, and other factors have fooled me into thinking the TA has major value?
As morninglight said too, it is a tool. One that has served me and some friends I know, very well. I've watched the value guys use all their FA with just as much mixed results as an all TA board. It's in the beholder, mostly, but some utilize FA mostly, others TA mostly.
