#57999 RE: Doma #57995

doma, do I have this correct?,

are you saying there are 2 different ATML TPMs one that works with IBM-TSS and one that works with NTRU-TSS?

or are you saing that the TPMs have baked in all of the overlap required to function with different TSSs. (Ignoring that in some cases the TSS comes AFTER the TPM!)

It clearly must be the case that I don't get it. I thought the TPM was a CHIP. And you make the chip, and there it is. It weighs a certain amount, has certain physical dimensions, might serve as a lure for certain fish, has a certain number of pins an so on.

I thought the TSS was more soft, and that it could be modified or provided in versions that could be optimised to accomadate different TPMs. One could imagine making a TSS that acomadates all TPMs off the shelf. NTRU makes such a claim. Nobody else does.

You argue that all TPMs accomadate any TSS off the shelf ... I'm suspect of that. That is the biscuit of this whole dispute. Does it matter, not really. Still need a CSP to get uphill to the development langs ... but we've ALL been saying that for some time.

You argue that the TSS is static and the chip is reiterated to suit.

Seems to be cost prohibitive to me, but I'm just a cook, and its you holding my hand, correct?
