#7476 RE: chrissy #7469

Chrissy, I worked for several years out of Bakersfield for an international construction firm. Most of our work was in Petro/Chem, but we did several plants for produce processing. I know the Valley well.

You mention cold weather and frost. Don't forget, we are talking about greenhouses here. Except for a few weeks of Thule fog each fall, the Valley has lots of sunshine for most of the year. It would be very low cost to raise produce in greenhouses. IMO, the combination of low irrigation water consumption, low energy costs and year round growing, Cravo Greenhouses and the San Joaquin Valley are a dream made in BAHR Heaven.

As excited as I am about MFW, we will probably never see something as mundane as trucking on something like 60 Minutes. 60 Minutes has already done a segment on the San Joaquin Vally's irrigation water woes. If AGO/CCF can get a major operation going there, we could easily see that kind of story featured on national news.
