Doma, you wrote:

"What is not clear with the Atmel/NTRU offering
as of yet is what software Atmel will provide
with their NTRU TSS to perform the same functions.
Will they also use Wave's ESC or will they use
their own software?
If they were going to use Wave's ESC why haven't
we seen an announcement yet & if Atmel are using
their own software or another third party's why
hasn't this also been released?
Either way the Atmel/NTRU solution is incomplete
as of today......"

If Wave had already "partnered" with NTRU, and then now "Atmel has licensed the NTRU Core TCG Software Stack (CTSS) for use with their 1.1b and 1.2 trusted platform modules.", then would a Wave/Atmel announcement have to be released? I realise that it would make things much clearer, but is it neccessary? Perhaps the Atmel/NTRU-Wave solution is completed and just not (formal)!

Wave Systems and NTRU Partner to Offer Comprehensive, Cross-Platform Software Solutions for Trusted Computing Markets

LEE & BURLINGTON, MA – February 23, 2004 – Wave Systems Corp. (NASDAQ: WAVX – www.wave.com), and NTRU today announced that they have teamed up to provide a cross-platform software solution for trusted personal computers. The secure software from the two companies is designed to work with multiple-vendor Trusted Computing Group (TCG)-compliant security chips now available for personal computers. By making available multiple-security chip software from each company, PC OEMs and chip manufacturers can have more options in the secure solutions they provide to customers.

The TCG Software Stack (TSS) from NTRU and the EMBASSY® Trust Suite of secure software solutions from Wave are designed to work on a Trusted Platform Module (TPM) from any manufacturer compatible with TCG hardware specification version 1.1b and next generation TPMs compliant with specification 1.2. This interoperability gives the hardware manufacturer flexibility for their trusted hardware.

Wave and NTRU offer TPM manufacturers and PC OEMs a complete software solution from the device driver layer (NTRU) to the application layer (Wave). This complete software solution works with a TPM embedded inside a PC. The TPM serves as the secure core for an enhanced services platform specified by the Trusted Computing Group. TPMs provide the resources used by the software to implement secure functions within a PC.

"We believe the market for PCs containing TPMs is rapidly gaining momentum. Hardware providers entering the Trusted Computing market need security experts that are delivering innovative, leading-edge solutions and who understand the security and privacy requirements of this space. NTRU and Wave have extensive embedded security experience to provide hardware manufacturers and OEMs with a comprehensive and interoperable suite of infrastructure applications," said Brian Berger, executive vice president, sales and marketing, Wave Systems.

"Our partnership with Wave underlines our commitment to providing comprehensive trusted computing solutions for all our clients," said Ed King, CEO of NTRU. "With Wave, we are able to roll out a solution for trusted computing platforms that helps our clients quickly and efficiently bring TCG enabled products to the market."

Atmel and NTRU Announce an Unbeatable Hardware/Software Security Combination for Trusted Computing Products

November 08, 2004 08:00:00 (ET)

SAN JOSE, Calif. and BURLINGTON, Mass., Nov 8, 2004 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX/ -- Atmel(R) Corporation (ATML, Trade), world leader in the security processor market, and NTRU Cryptosystems Inc., the trusted computing experts, today announced the availability of state-of-the-art trusted platform modules (TPM) married with state-of-the-art security software. Atmel has licensed the NTRU Core TCG Software Stack (CTSS) for use with their 1.1b and 1.2 trusted platform modules. This agreement will provide Atmel with significant flexibility to offer TCG solutions in the worldwide PC market using Windows(R) and Linux(R) operating systems as well as in the embedded platform space. Atmel TPMs combined with NTRU TSS will provide an unsurpassed level of security and interoperability to customers developing Trusted Computing compliant desktops, laptops and embedded devices. As specified by the Trusted Computing Group, the NTRU CTSS provides the essential core interface and security services framework for any application that relies on the TPM.

"NTRU continues to be a leader in the trusted computing space as consultants, security experts and product designers," said Kerry Maletsky, Business Unit Director for Atmel Corporation. "Combine that with Atmel's single-chip security subsystem hardware and you have the ability to create TCG compliant products that are high-performing, cost-effective and most importantly ultra secure," he added.

Atmel TPMs provide the industry's highest level of hardware security protecting the end user's privacy by providing secure storage and management of the user's identity, passwords and encryption keys. The NTRU CTSS is designed in accordance with the TCG TSS standard and is enhanced with strong, standards-compliant cryptographic libraries. The CTSS provides a set of software components that allow applications and peripherals to take advantage of a platform's TPM hardware module in a coordinated, consistent, and portable manner. The CTSS has been thoroughly tested on Windows and Linux operating systems and will ensure interoperability across platforms using different hardware and software.

"Our customers have asked us for a flexible, secure and interoperable software module. We are pleased that our TSS now provides that critical link in the trusted computing chain," said Ed King, NTRU's CEO. "Atmel is a leader in the development of TPMs and they have recognized that the need for trusted computing continues to become more critical each day. Our TSS will help them quickly and efficiently deploy trusted computing applications across a wide variety of platforms."
