excel,
Thank you for your post and time.

Jesus was 40 years old when he died.(taking into account the 7 year miscalculation when converting the jewish calendar to todays gregorian calendar). In that time he taught and traveled much and yet, if you read only the bible you get just a short 3 year lesson of him and his words. I am a believer in christ, my life was saved by his words and spirit. My life and who i am now compared to a short 5 years ago is a testament to him. But i am aware of 'messiah' types that have come before christ. many 'messiahs' have come before jesus. budddha for example: his mother maya, a virgin, impregnated by a spirit, moved home to birth the boy. visited by a man who told her this 'prince' will grow up to be a great king, the 'savior of the world'. buddha went off into the wilderness was tempted by the devil, rebuked him, then started his ministry, had disciples. Does that sound familiar? that was 500 years before christ.
So what makes christ special? I believe its his spirit and life. I personally, want to know everything I can about him, I hunger for the knowledge of christ and the truth about him, not just one point of view but all points of views. The bible is a great collection of 66 books, written by different authors. It was put together by men, and other books were left out by men because they disagreed with the 'creed' and the laws of the roman government. Christians burned other christian writings once the church was formed, descemated whole citys, killing men, women and children as'heretics' who didnt believe as the 'church' did. Does that sound like jesus to you? I want to know the man and god has led me on a wonderful journey, performed miracles in my life and has taught me much. I want to share this with other christians and yet get the same answers from them that "the bible is enough" Why is it enough? Why would you limit your knowledge of your god? Why would you turn down the opportunity to read about him from other writings?
Hebrews 1:3 states, "The Son is the radiance of Gods glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word..." jesus radiates gods glory through his word. Wouldn't you want to read as many of jesus's words as humanly possible? What are christians afraid of finding out about jesus? dont christians believe the holy spirit will show you the truth from a lie? Just things that make me go hmmmmmmmmmmm.
sincerely
