Fish, I agree. This may indeed be the strategy. Looking forward to your pursuit of information relevent to such a hypothesis.

Kinda remins me of GN's old "1-into-3(or 4),
3(or 4)-into-1" song -- tho I don;t think this is what he had in mind ...)

or they are breaking jpm apart to thwart lawsuits from shareholders. they must breakout holdings that they stole from wamu such as providian etc. and they cant do this without sending serious red flags up. i feel this is another calculated scheme to smoke screen the transaction so not to down the whole banking sector. if jpm is found to have stole a solvent bank to prop up their share structure...what is really going on with the banks then? are we really turning a corner in the depression or is it a mirage? with this split up of jpm they can give back all they stole. thus what cnbc said about a forced slimming down. its more like giving back!! unspreading the wealth they stole so to speak. wmi will get their money and i feel will turn out of bk to be a force to be reckoned with. i feel they will never merge with their rival or do anything to help those goons...ever!

WMI is a bank holding company you know... Maybe they are looking at buyout of WMI then taking some of the banks into the WMI holding co?
