now if only the average American was a tiny fraction as informed as you or as fraction as smart. Then again, we're talking about a land where 40% of the inhabitants still think Saddam was the one who attacked us on 9-11. The chances of them being their own "second opinion" to go up against the businesses trying to take them for a ride is pretty remote, IMO. The situation with an FDA that works more and more as a promotional wing of the drug companies that ante up the biggest campaign contributions is getting much, much worse. In the 15 years since I worked with corporations plying the FDA applications process I can tell you it's gotten 100% more political in the way it does business. That's a societal loss and a crumbling of democracy and good government. The ever more brazen lack of conscience exhibited both on the corporate side and among the political class is more than a little troubling. And discouraging.
