The 18 month figure came from a study I just read. When I really need to know something I have to look at the real data not the press releases which are superficial.
As to what other data is out there, I really haven't paid that much attention over the last few years. There is no such thing as a drug without side effects. Aspirin and tylenol kill more than a few people every year all by themselves. Basic pharmacology is the dose makes the poison. It is all about risk versus benefit.
I'm sure that if what you say is true that it will be brought up in the trial.
As to the pharma bashing, I don't entirely disagree. I have my own take on their problems from up close but am not going to bother to discuss this on a stock market thread e.g. see the shelf offering discussion for why. One thing that everyone should be aware of is that it is their health on the line. Docs prescribe because patients ask and pay for the asking. Drug companies advertise because they sell drugs. It is always a good idea to think of what you taking, why you are taking it, and do the benefits outweigh the risks. After all, whose body is it and who cares the most.
