This will show which SP you have installed

Start menu, select All Programs --> Accessories --> System Tools --> System Information program. The System Information program shows your exact operating system version

The only way I know of getting rid of IE 8 is to download another browser, then uninstall IE8 from the Control panel.

Then you can use the other browser to go out to MS and downlaod and install IE 7.
