OT: the most innovative aspect of healthcare in the USA is the clever way special interest groups manage to receive a benefit, for free, while other (not so special groups) get to pay. The proposed reform of healthcare perpetuates the process while coincidentally, expanding it.

If the current administration really wanted to reform healthcare all they have to do is allow any private insurer to calculate reimbursements for a service based on Medicares rate schedule.

OT:

Once you start delving into generalities, the argument becomes quite weak.

In the past 50 years, I can name dozens of innovations in electronics and disease treatment. These are all regulated industries.

Can you name 1 innovation by the health insurance industry for every 10 innovations in treatment by drug companies?

>What must be covered is prescribed by state law, so I have to pay for your chiropractic back rubs, herbal "treatments", colonoscopies, and a lot of other stuff I would be glad to do without.<

Well, I have excellent health benefits and I'm quite sure that 2 of the items on your list are not reimbursable under my plan. Hyperbole, like generalities, weakens the argument.

>You people hell-bent on foisting government health care on everyone<

It's clear from the language you're using that you have not followed the discussions on this topic. I would really urge additional reading before letting the ideological outrage fly.
