Good Grief Bear! I thought I was the only one up at this hour. LOL..

I have to agree with you on the old & new school way of marketing. The article was indeed interesting and gives us examples & supports to have Exobox proceed on this. I'm typically used to having content on their own domain, just like you mentioned.

However, utilizing all channels possible may not be a bad idea after all. To be honest with you, I have about a total of 8 IT following me on Twitter, 1 of which has over 60 IT following him. It's a chain reaction at that point, once the majority of us start reviewing & hearing testimonies, and start blogging about it. The message is definately echoed out there to both "trusting & trusted" IT folks. From what I found out, a good majority of us IT are on Facebook and/or Twitter. We're simply contributing ideas & sharing information, but most importantly networking with each other. Over 2 million users on FaceBook? Not Bad to send & echo that message out there. I certainly agree that Web 2.0 is not a "channel" but rather an "engine"

BnB, their web-site is still down, maybe they are taking your advice, I'm like you "old school" I don't understand all the other sites, facebook, twitter and etc, I would have no reason to look at those sites, but thats just me.

Re: Marketing

When companies don't have a lot of money to spend with conventional marketing channels going through Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, etc. make a lot of sense if your audience is reachable through those channels. The services are free. I have enticed many people to join Ask Mr. Owl through Twitter. My concern is that their audience (should be IT decision makers?) may not be best reached through these channels specifically. Perhaps these channels are geared more towards investors? Are there specific on-line forums that IT professionals are most active in that Exobox could actively participate in to reach this key group? Are they participating in any of these specific forums? As an example, I advertise on Google, Microsoft and Yahoo keywords however, most of the responses to my ads come from this web site (perhaps you have seen the text ads below). The people on this site are targeted at investing whereas Google, Microsoft and Yahoo are somewhat generic and therefore the response rate is better for me here.
