Well then you should be smart enough to see the fatal error in your "simple words" post. It would be correct if you were talking naked short, but we weren't.

There's 100 shares out. I borrow 10 and sell them. There's still 100 shares out. I buy 10 back and deliver them to the lender. There's still only 100 shares out.

Now if I naked shorted, no borrow, I'm selling shares that don't exist and then you have your dilution.

I have been independently tested 5 times in my life, 3 in my first 14 years and the last 10 years ago. My lowest score was 165 at age 14 (puperty and girls kind of skewed the results).
