I had the same thought, but unfortunately nothing to back it up...if there is not substantial business either done or about to be done for Dell why else would they do this? great thought...the next question is why now and not earlier? Maybe some of the govt agencies are moving now before an Obama adm is actually in house or the new push for security (IT)from both Bush and Obama ...and the current threat level and increased attacks (IT) have finally gotten some agency or many off of dead center...

RWK... One doesn't need Oliver Stone...

... This isn't a "Who Shot Oliver Stone?" screenplay, in my opinion. Yes, it is certainly ODD for Dell, a company known for squeezing suppliers until their organs pop out and for STRETCHING (contorting?) payables beyond recognition, to agree to this. That said, I think one should settle for the simplest explanation: Dell needs Wave for engineering work and talent for FUTURE projects (including Broadcom's USH)... because Dell has decided that SECURITY is a big point of differentiation.

At one point, back when I knew them from the inside, Dell was MAINSTREAM computing... at an anything but mainstream (cheap) price. Dell has been striving to be much more through its services offerings AND through innovation.

What's kinda fun about all of this... is that with one 8K Wave and Dell have sent a signal about Wave's VALUE, TALENT and INNOVATION and KNOWLEDGE about TRUSTED COMPUTING... that is absolutely counter to YEARS AND YEARS of drearleading and out-and-out bashing by folks who NEVER bothered to research the company's relationships and technologies. That this particular signal is blessed by Dell, a company has been doing EVERYTHING over the past year to wash costs OUT of its supply chain, is SUBSTANTIVE.

How will the signal be received? Who knows? Now it's about follow-through and REVENUES that validate the signal.
