Tesla, LG Energy Solution plan $4.3B battery factory in Michigan

NASDAQ:TSLA
Latest News
March 17 2026 7:32AM

Tesla (NASDAQ:TSLA) and LG Energy Solution are set to invest $4.3 billion to construct a battery manufacturing facility in Michigan, part of a broader effort to reinforce domestic energy supply chains, according to a U.S. government announcement.

The new plant will be built in Lansing and is expected to begin producing lithium iron phosphate (LFP) prismatic battery cells in 2027. These batteries will supply Tesla’s Megapack 3 energy storage systems, which are manufactured at the company’s facility in Houston.

The project deepens Tesla’s existing partnership with LG Energy Solution and is intended to expand battery production capacity within the United States while reducing dependence on international supply chains.

The investment was revealed alongside a series of energy and infrastructure agreements announced during an Indo-Pacific energy summit supported by the administration of Donald Trump.

Officials said the broader initiative aims to strengthen access to critical minerals and clean energy technologies while promoting job creation and industrial development across the United States.

Approximately 40,000 to 43,000 people die in motor vehicle crashes in the U.S. annually. Data from 2023 shows 40,901 fatalities, and early estimates for 2024 suggest a slight decrease to around 39,345. Traffic fatalities remain a leading cause of death, averaging over 100 deaths daily.

Teen arrested after Tesla crash in Sai Kung

A 16-year-old boy has been arrested after a car accident in Sai Kung left a real estate employee injured when a vehicle ploughed into a shop.

The incident occurred at around 10.37am today on Luk Mei Tsuen Road, opposite a temple. Police said the teenager allegedly lost control of a Tesla and struck a parked seven-seater outside a property agency. The impact forced the seven-seater into the wall of the shop before it crashed into the premises.

A female staff member inside the agency sustained a leg injury and became trapped. Firefighters were called to the scene and freed her before she was taken by ambulance to Tseung Kwan O Hospital for treatment.

According to sources, the teenager had been on his first day working at a garage and was attempting to reverse the Tesla when he is suspected of pressing the accelerator instead of the brake. The vehicle surged forward, triggering the chain collision.
Sounds like a case of SUA to me after solar wind hit earths magnetic field causing low level G1 storm...but of course they are going to blame him for incorrect pedal application.

But independent experts disagree with the conclusion that the accelerator signal necessarily means the driver’s foot was on the pedal. Simen Huse, one of only five authorized Bosch CDR tool operators in Norway, and researchers from Sintef, argue that electronic malfunctions, software errors, or voltage spikes could produce the same accelerator signal in the data — without the driver ever pressing the pedal.

Tesla’s ‘Robotaxi’ expansion looks like another stock pump before earnings
https://electrek.co/2026/04/19/tesla-robotaxi-expansion-dallas-houston-stock-pump-earnings/

Tesla launched its “Robotaxi” service in Dallas and Houston yesterday — expanding to two new cities for the first time since Austin. There’s just one problem: there are virtually no cars available.

Data from Robotaxi Tracker shows that Tesla’s new Houston and Dallas deployments have had 0% to 2% availability over the past 24 hours, with only brief spikes to around 50% during a narrow morning window before dropping back to zero. It looks like Tesla deployed a car or two in each city and called it a launch.

The pre-earnings pattern
If this sounds familiar, it should. In January, Tesla announced it had launched “unsupervised” Robotaxi rides in Austin — just days before its Q4 2025 earnings call. The stock jumped 4% on the news. But as we reported at the time, Tesla’s ‘unsupervised’ Robotaxis vanished a week after that pre-earnings announcement.

Now Tesla is running the same playbook. Q1 2026 earnings are on Wednesday, April 22 — three days from now — and the company suddenly has a “Robotaxi is now rolling out in Dallas & Houston” headline to wave in front of investors on the earnings call.

The geofenced areas are small. Houston’s zone covers the Jersey Village and Willowbrook areas in the northwest part of the city — roughly 12 to 15 square miles. Dallas gets a slightly larger zone of about 30 to 35 square miles. For context, the Houston metro area spans over 10,000 square miles.

As of writing this (Sunday afternoon), 24 hours after the service launched, there’s no service availability in either of the new expansions, and only a single vehicle has been reported by riders in each market.

Still not ready in Austin
The real tell is what Tesla is not doing. If the company was genuinely confident in its unsupervised driving technology, the logical move would be to scale up operations in Austin — where it has been operating for 10 months — by deploying more cars across the expanded 245-square-mile geofence. Instead, Austin still has only about a dozen unsupervised vehicles and still relies heavily on safety monitors in most rides.

Tesla has reported 15 crashes to NHTSA since launching in Austin — a crash rate roughly 4x worse than human drivers. Unlike every other autonomous vehicle company in the NHTSA database, Waymo, Zoox, Aurora, Nuro, and Tesla redact the detailed narratives explaining what happened in each crash.

And the early results in the new cities are already showing problems. Videos shared on social media show Tesla’s Robotaxi vehicles running into issues in the new markets, including additional incidents on the first day of operations.

We have now seen this pattern three times: Tesla makes a splashy autonomous driving announcement days before an earnings call, generates positive headlines, and the actual operational reality turns out to be a fraction of what was implied.

In June 2025, it was the “driverless delivery” stunt — one 15-mile autonomous delivery that was never repeated. In January 2026, it was “unsupervised” rides that vanished within a week. Now it is a “launch” in two new cities with essentially one car each and virtually zero availability.

The strategy is transparent at this point. Tesla is not expanding a robotaxi service, it is expanding the narrative of a robotaxi service, timed precisely for maximum impact on investor sentiment ahead of what are expected to be disappointing earnings.

If Tesla had genuine confidence in its unsupervised driving capability, the company would be flooding Austin with hundreds of unsupervised vehicles, proving out the safety record, and building real capacity before expanding. Instead, it is doing the opposite: spreading a handful of cars across a growing number of tiny geofences to create the appearance of rapid expansion while safety remains the core limiting factor.

Car Owners Are Revolting Over Tesla’s Self-Driving Promises

In the nine years since, LoSavio said it has become clear that Tesla took him for a ride. He is the lead plaintiff in a class-action lawsuit that alleges that Tesla charged customers thousands of dollars in pricey upgrades for a product that didn’t, and still doesn’t, exist.
LoSavio alleges that Musk and Tesla have made repeated claims that were false about the self-driving capabilities of these vehicles and misled consumers who paid extra because they believed the company’s marketing. His lawsuit is one of several ongoing efforts by Tesla owners looking to hold the company accountable for overpromising and under-delivering on its Full Self-Driving (Supervised) product.

What constitutes a fake it until you make it scam?

it was arguably a referendum on “fake it till you make it” practices, such as intentionally overstating, and thereby misrepresenting, a fledgling company’s current capabilities, success, or profitability, while banking on the notion that its aspirations will eventually follow the desired trajectory and become a reality.
Tesla nearly went bankrupt twice, primarily due to extreme cash shortages during production ramp-ups. The most critical moments were in late 2008, when the company was days away from collapse, and again between 2017 and 2019 during the "production hell" of the Model 3, when it was roughly a month from bankruptcy

BYD thoughts of Self driving technology

“We think self-driving tech that’s fully separated from humans is very, very far away, and basically impossible,” Li Yunfei, a spokesperson for BYD, said in Mandarin, translated by CNBC.
“When we think about [self-driving tech] from all aspects, from human psychological safety needs, from ethics, from regulation, from technology — including application in this industry — we haven’t figured out [the logic] and we think it is probably a false proposition,” Li told reporters on the sidelines of the Shanghai auto show on Tuesday.
“There may be many industries and businesses that invest a lot of money on this [tech], and after investing for many years it will prove it leads nowhere,” he said.

This part is not a trading platform, but a forum to discuss the company and stock. Therefore what I post is just as pertinent for consideration as what people post about the stock. More so even as Tesla is facing up to 14bn worth of lawsuits with more to come. Trade Tsla, do not invest in it.
The amount of out of control Teslas skyrocketed after 2019 (100s a year just in the US) when most of the current lawsuits are dated. Thus what Tesla is facing is only the early stages of its legal challenges. Legal challenges that will only increase as its Robotaxi network is expanded; if it ever sells Optimus that as well. Why? Just like the vehicles, Optimus will go out of control and spontaneously combust causing unknown amounts of damage to its owners and their properties. Its inevitable.

Whats worse is Tesla is aware of these problems and trying to cover them up. Its aware of its SUA issue, sudden veer issue, Whompy Wheel issue, and its batteries propensity to spontaneous combust. All of these issues due to EM radiation and something known as Hutchison Effect that leads to spontaneous fracturing of suspension components leading to the Whompy Wheel issue.

My board of out of control Teslas shows that I post out of control Teslas whether the stock goes up or down:
https://investorshub.advfn.com/Tesla-Out-of-Control-Accidents-46016

Teslas and EVs represent a major hazard to society due to their propensity to malfunction due to Electro-Magnetic Interference. I've been profiling this for the last 5 years. A problem that will only get worse as Earths geomagnetic field continues to weaken. This is a threat to all modern technology, not just EVs. We should be using technology to reduce our dependency on it rather than increasing our dependency. It may seem like the right move for now, but it'll hasten the decline of modern society.

Autopiloting Tesla crashes into Tennessee dance studio, sending 3 to hospital, police say

A Tesla Model 3 crashed into a Clinton dance studio Wednesday while using autopilot, according to a police report that included statements from the car’s owner.

It happened around 4 p.m. when Clinton Police Department officers responded to Dream Dance Studio, where they spoke to the driver.

“[Driver Sharron Parrish King] advised as she was attempting to brake to turn onto 371 Market Street, the vehicle stayed in motion and accelerated through the front right side of Dream Dance Studio while striking the building,” the report said.
Wouldnt this be FSD on city streets? Regardless of which system it is these sorts of glitches happen weekly.

Tesla is facing up to $14.5 billion in lawsuits — and it’s only getting worse

Tesla is currently fighting on more than 20 active litigation fronts, ranging from Autopilot wrongful death suits to securities fraud and racial discrimination — with total potential financial exposure reaching as high as $14.5 billion. The company’s “hardcore litigation department” and its “corporate puffery” defense strategy have failed to stem the tide.

The situation is not stabilizing, it is accelerating. And what makes it truly alarming for Tesla is that the most dangerous lawsuits are still to come.

Autopilot and FSD crashes: the floodgates are open — and we’re only at the beginning
The “Full Self-Driving” promise: a multi-billion-dollar broken contract
Securities fraud: the Robotaxi wildcard
In August 2025, shareholders filed Morand v. Tesla — a securities fraud class action alleging that Tesla and Musk inflated the stock price by concealing the significant risks of its self-driving technology, specifically around the Robotaxi program. The class period covers April 2023 to June 2025.
We have been covering Tesla’s self-driving promises for nearly a decade, and what we’re witnessing now is the legal system catching up to years of reckless marketing and false promises.
Reckless marketing and false promises? Call it what it is, Teslas astronomical valuation depended on this fake it until it makes it scam. Now its time for Tesla to fall Theranos style! I predicted this would begin last year and not out of the ordinary, it took longer than expected. I suspect thats because SpaceX IPO needed to be setup to save all those Tesla investors.

Futures Signal Continued Gains for Wall Street: Dow Jones, S&P, NasdaqApril 17, 2026 9:23 AM
IH Market News
U.S. stock futures are indicating a higher open on Friday, suggesting that markets may build on the upward momentum seen in recent sessions.Investor sentiment continues to be supported by optimism that the U.S. conflict with Iran could be nearing an end, following recent remarks from President Donald Trump.Speaking at an event in Las Vegas on Thursday, Trump said the “war in Iran is going along swimmingly” and “should be ending pretty soon.”While similar upbeat comments have been made throughout the conflict, they continue to underpin positive sentiment in equity markets.“If a resolution can be found in the near term, then perhaps the market will have been right to see this as a blip rather than something which justifies a more significant derating of corporate valuations,” said Russ Mould. He added, “Only time will tell, though sooner rather than later there will need to be evidence of Donald Trump’s repeated claims that the war will be ending soon coming to fruition.”Markets are also being supported by expectations of solid corporate earnings, ahead of a busy week of results from major companies.Among those set to report are 3M (NYSE:MMM), UnitedHealth (NYSE:UNH), AT&T (NYSE:T), Boeing (NYSE:BA), IBM Corp. (NYSE:IBM), Tesla (NASDAQ:TSLA), American Express (NYSE:AXP), and Intel (NASDAQ:INTC).However, Netflix (NASDAQ:NFLX) shares are down 8.9% in premarket trading after the company delivered strong first-quarter results but issued weaker-than-expected guidance for the second quarter. On Thursday, stocks traded unevenly but maintained an overall positive tone, with major indices ending moderately higher. The Nasdaq and S&P 500 both extended recent gains, closing at fresh record highs. All three major benchmarks finished in positive territory: the Nasdaq rose 86.69 points, or 0.4%, to 24,102.70; the S&P 500 gained 18.33 points, or 0.3%, to 7,041.28; and the Dow Jones Industrial Average added 115.00 points, or 0.2%, to 48,578.72.The sustained rally has helped the Nasdaq and S&P 500 recover fully from the sharp declines seen following the outbreak of the U.S.-Iran conflict.Investors also remain hopeful about the possibility of renewed peace talks between Washington and Tehran, although no official meeting has yet been confirmed.Reports suggest both sides may consider extending the current ceasefire by two weeks to allow more time for negotiations.Further boosting sentiment, Trump said in a post on Truth Social that Israel and Lebanon have agreed to a 10-day ceasefire. He also noted that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Lebanese President Joseph Aoun have been invited to the White House for peace discussions.Iran has continued to insist that Israel halt its attacks on Hezbollah in Lebanon as part of any ongoing ceasefire agreement.“It’s like the events of the past month-and-a-half have been placed in the rearview mirror by investors,” said Dan Coatsworth. “The market’s sanguine perspective may be tested if the rhetoric about an end to the fighting isn’t matched by reality sooner rather than later.”On the economic front, the Federal Reserve reported that U.S. industrial production unexpectedly declined in March.Industrial output fell 0.5% during the month, following a 0.7% increase in February. Economists had expected a modest 0.1% rise. The decline was partly driven by notable drops in utilities and mining production. In sector performance, transportation stocks stood out, pushing the Dow Jones Transportation Average up 4.1% to a record closing high.J.B. Hunt (NASDAQ:JBHT) was a key contributor, with shares jumping 6.3% after reporting better-than-expected quarterly results.Telecom stocks also showed strong gains, with the NYSE Arca North American Telecom Index rising 3.8%.Strength was also seen in networking, hardware, software, and oil-related stocks, while airline stocks moved notably lower.3M stock priceUnitedHealth Group stock priceAT&T stock priceBoeing stock priceIBM stock priceTesla stock priceAmerican Express stock priceIntel stock priceNetflix stock priceJ.B. Tesla Goes Airborne, Slams Into Tree In Newtown Crash: Police

Investigators said a 2021 Tesla Model 3 was traveling southbound at a high rate of speed when it approached a right-hand curve and failed to stay in its lane.

The vehicle crossed into the northbound side of the road, struck a curb and went off the roadway onto a residential property, police said.

The Tesla then hit rocks, became airborne and struck a utility wire before crashing into a tree, where it came to rest.
Sounds like an issue of Sudden Unintended Acceleration. Nothing the driver could do but wait to hit something to stop.

I'm begging all of you to NEVER get in a Tesla as long as you live. It started accelerating on its own in a parking garage and my dad lost all control of the car and we ran into a wall at 40 mph. Most horrifying experience of my life.

TSMC Delivers Record Q1 Profit, Flags Potential Middle East Supply RisksApril 16, 2026 7:28 AM
IH Market News
Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing (NYSE:TSM), known as TSMC, reported first-quarter earnings that exceeded expectations on Thursday, as the world’s largest contract chipmaker continued to benefit from strong demand tied to artificial intelligence. However, the company cautioned that ongoing conflict in the Middle East could eventually affect profitability due to disruptions in the supply of key chemicals and energy, although any immediate impact appears unlikely.TSMC recorded a net profit of T$572.48 billion ($18.15 billion) for the three months ending March 31, surpassing Bloomberg forecasts of T$542.38 billion and marking a 58.3% increase compared to the same period last year. The result was driven by a 35% rise in revenue, which reached T$1.134 trillion in the first quarter.Looking ahead, CFO Wendell Huang projected second-quarter revenue in the range of $39.0 billion to $40.2 billion, representing a 32% increase year on year. The company also expects revenue growth to exceed 30% for full-year 2026.Huang noted that disruptions to specialty chemical supplies caused by the Middle East conflict could weigh on margins, though he said it was too early to determine the full impact. He added that any near-term effects are unlikely, as TSMC has secured access to necessary chemical inputs and energy supply commitments for now.Supply chains for specialty chemicals have been significantly affected since the outbreak of the U.S.-Israel conflict with Iran in March, given the strategic importance of the Strait of Hormuz as a shipping route for these materials.A large portion of global supplies of chip-grade helium and bromine originates in the Middle East, and escalating military activity has disrupted production, particularly in Qatar, Israel, and Jordan. As a central player in the AI semiconductor ecosystem, TSMC has seen strong demand for advanced chips, serving major clients such as NVIDIA Corporation (NASDAQ:NVDA), while also producing semiconductors for a wide range of industrial and consumer electronics applications.During a post-earnings call, CEO C.C. Wei downplayed concerns about rising competition from emerging AI chip initiatives led by companies including Tesla Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) and Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC), noting that building advanced chip manufacturing capacity takes significant time and investment.Tesla CEO Elon Musk recently announced a joint venture involving Tesla, xAI, and SpaceX—named Terafab—to develop a vertically integrated chip production facility, with Intel joining the project earlier this month.Wei emphasized that TSMC will need to continue expanding its production capacity to meet rapidly growing demand. Recent reports have suggested that capacity constraints could lead key customers such as Nvidia to delay next-generation AI chip launches.TSMC, alongside chip equipment manufacturer ASML Holding NV (EU:ASML), is widely viewed as a bellwether for the semiconductor and AI sectors. ASML also reported strong first-quarter results earlier this week.Taiwan Semiconductor stock price

Self-driving Tesla involved in CT highway crash 'spontaneously veered' into guardrail, police say

The agency said the 2026 Tesla Model 3 was driving straight in the left lane in "auto self drive mode" Sunday when it "spontaneously veered left" into the center median.

The front driver side of the vehicle struck the metal beam guardrail, "causing disabling damage," state police said in a summary of the crash.

The driver, a 47-year-old woman from South Salem, N.Y., was not hospitalized after the crash, according to the report. It said she was not distracted and was wearing her seatbelt at the time of the crash.

The incident was reported around 6:10 p.m. near Exit 73, according to state police.
Speaks for itself...However as shown below this can happen whether FSD or AP are enabled because Teslas are prone to malfunction.

https://www.nhregister.com/news/article/union-tesla-self-driving-i-84-crash-22207573.php

========================================

The following collection of accidents (this list is no longer regularly updated but i frequently post similar accidents on my Out of Control Tesla board) will show that Teslas have a sudden veering problem, a problem thats being covered up, in addition to issues of Sudden Unintended Acceleration. These accidents occur regardless of the Teslas being operated by intoxicated drivers, regular drivers, professional drivers, Autopilot, or FSD.
This collection was put together to showcase the core problem is actually hardware related not driver/software. When nearly the same crash elements occurs across a diverse collection of use cases regardless of model & year, the only logical conclusion is that there is something wrong with the vehicles themselves and that they pose a significant danger to society. As I already hinted at, there is an investigation that indicates that Tesla & NHTSA are purposefully withholding information in regards various AP related accidents including these veering Teslas that works to hide such dangers from becoming more apparent...so people do not catch onto this pattern! I post the link to the article at the end of this section of the post.

And? It happened to Toyota in 2008 except Toyota managed to address whatever EMI was cuasing SUA in their cars. Teslas have been experiencing this problem for over a decade with no solution.
My best guess is there is no good solution for EVs. There is no cost effective amounts of shielding Tesla can manage to utilize to prevent its vehicles from suffering SUA from EMI. EVs continue to be a danger to society and that danger will only get worse as the earths magnetic field continues to weaken and expose technology to greater and greater amounts of EM radiation.

RECREATING THE “STUCK THROTTLE” PROBLEM ON A TOYOTA

While most passenger vehicles older than about 15-20 years controlled the throttle with a cable connected directly from the throttle body to the accelerator pedal, most manufacturers have switched to a fly-by-wire system which takes sensor input from the accelerator pedal and sends that position information to the vehicle’s computer which in turn adjusts the throttle position. This might be slightly cheaper to manufacture, but introduces a much larger number of failure modes to a critical system.

[Colin] is recreating one of those failure modes by introducing an electromagnetic pulse at a specific point on the vehicle’s computer. In the real world, this could be caused by certain forms of EMF potentially including cosmic rays. This introduces a memory fault which the computer doesn’t seem capable of recognizing or clearing. With the right set of circumstances that [Colin] can reliably produce, the computer eventually will drive the throttle fully open, and the condition can only be corrected by power-cycling the vehicle’s computer.

General Motors introduced fly-by-wire (electronic) throttle control in 1997 on the C5 Corvette with the LS1 engine. While it debuted in '97, widespread implementation across GM trucks and SUVs generally began in the 2003 model year, with some earlier, limited usage in 2000–2002 models, particularly those with traction control.
The systems evolved from early 78 mm (75 mm opening) TBs (1997-2004) to later truck versions that used an eight-prong plug, with most GM engines standardizing this technology by the mid-2000s

This technology is standard across major manufacturers—including Toyota, Ford, Honda, Mercedes-Benz, and Tesla—to manage emissions, traction control, and cruise control more efficiently.
