I don't know about low cost but yes, the puppy has 2 MB of L2 cache. Not bad for a 21 W, 84 mm2, 1206 SPECint_base2k at 1.6 GHz chip that's shipping at up to 2 GHz right now. Its by far the brightest shining gem in Intel's mass market crown right now.

They're not lower cost, they're lower margin. It's the same chip that Intel is making oodles on in the high end space, but now they can pick up larger volumes at mainstream prices. Dothan's ramp looks good for Intel's 90nm process. I only wish Prescott were the same....
