Credit Suisse on Qualcomm (and the 3G Market for terminals and ASIC/ASSPs)
Hi Jim,
I'd like to call a relatively new research report available from Charles Schwab to the attention of board members here. While there is virtually no mention of InterDigital (2 references) in the 87 page report, it provides a very comprehensive overview of the market for 3G and many of the players in it, with some very good data points, and forecasts for terminals and chips out through 2010. Its one of the best reports of its type (i.e. on the 3G market) recently published and several contributors here are likely to find value in the market data in the report.
The June 26 report published on initiation (reinitiation) of QCOM coverage was authored by the Credit Suisse Americas/United States Equity Research Team [Schwab has recently made available their reports on US equities to their US customers] and is titled "QUALCOMM Inc. (QCOM) INITIATION: Growth and leverage . . . more to come."
Note to Firefox 3.0 Users: I should point out here a problem I encountered that others who access Schwab's website with post-upgrade Firefox might encounter, depending on their settings migrated from 2.x. I upgraded to 3.0 a few weeks back. After the upgrade much of Schwab's site functioned normally. However, 'Quotes and Research' for stocks did not (although it worked fine in IE). The entry page for a stock appeared normally but the encapsulated chart wouldn't load and none of the tabbed content including 'Reports' could be accessed. The fix quickly provided by Schwab Tech Support ( a Firefox user who hadn't upgraded to 3.0) was as follows ...
• Go to Firefox 3.0 Tools | Options | Privacy
• Under 'Cookies' make sure that not only 'Accept Cookies from Sites' is checked (mine was) but also make sure 'Accept 3rd Party Cookies' is also checked (mine wasn't) and click 'OK'
• Restart Firefox
We surmised that Mozilla either added a setting or modified how settings migrated and the setting could affect access to content on other sites.
Best,
- Eric -
