Dish - if you read what you wrote, and I wrote...Samsung selected the IFX chip (no, it's not IDCC's chip) for a LOWER tier product - it is NOT their flagship...and yes, it costs less too.
The X-GOLD 608, as I have been writing about and cheering for for some time (dang....it was an M-Gold like what... a decade ago?)...is NOT on measure "performance" wise with today's top tier chips...including the IDC 6071 (per signals research report).....but they offer a very nice bundled solution, and attractive price points to get some design wins under their belt to drive some volume. They have been very absent from the 3G market...Samsung is playing the game well.
btw - it was your inference that "quality"...means comparable.
