Lostcowboy. After reading your post I thought I'd check to make sure I didn't have any flags on my devices. I found one on Advanced Power Management support. What does this device do?
I went to install new driver and it said it already had best one installed. Is this device anything I should be concerned with? Thanks.
Almost forgot that other idle disconnect in Internet explorer. Click on tools, then internet options,select connections, in the dialup window select your internet service, then click on Settings, near the bottom click on Properties. Click on Dialing, at the bottom, un check both disconnect boxes, then click ok,ok,ok. That should keep you online while reading messages.
lostcowboy.............. Thanks. I've copied your post and will make a hard copy later to go through the diagnostics. I know that I have no hardware conflicts in Device Manager. Been there, done that..:) Now, I'm fairly sure that the problem isn't with the modem. It's working at about 49K-50K bps. Most of my grief seems to be with my new ISP and my memory. I'm in the process of upgrading my memory, (the root of all evil) Thanks for your help.
