What is the average hourly salary of a full-time hygienist and a full-time chairside dental assistant?

Independent dentists reported paying full-time dental hygienists $26.80 per hour in 2000. Full-time chairside dental assistants were reported to earn $13.90 an hour in 2000.

I noticed my dentisit stopped using a "chairside" assistant a few years back. Besides the fact they don't really do much, they are hard to find and keep. And it's rare I ever see the same hygienist twice. I think some of them are temps. He's an excellent dentist though so I wouldn't switch.
