"My question is how he could have allowed his son to go" - "allowed his son"??? Huh. His son was an adult wasn't he...he was capable of making his own decision. A parent can voice his/her opinion to their adult child, and offer guidance...then step back and respect the decision(s) their children make, given they are not unlawful.
