Your comments would make more sense on a mainstream computing website like Tech Report or Anandtech or Tom's Hardware Guide, rather than an investment site where Intel shareholder's primary concern is the share price.

Hey, I was viewing a game on my son's PC last nite, that machine is bitchin' I mean really, that things moves. If you have anything remotely close you must enjoy gaming.

As far as AMD goes, I see them as stealing Intel's ideas and whining forever.

It seems to me that Intel keeps on eye on all their competitors, not just AMD.

If there was no AMD, there would be another company.

am i wrong to think that we NEED AMD around?

Not really. Intel's biggest competitor to selling a new chip
is the old Intel chip in a system the customer already has.
AMD or no AMD, if Intel doesn't keep producing ever faster,
cooler, and more featured microprocessors that offer better
performance/cost and performance/power its sales would
be mainly for the replacement of broken down systems, a
tiny fraction of current sales levels which would leave Intel's
fabs grossly underutilized. AMD's continued existence is
no more vital to the industry than that of MOS Technology
or DEC Semiconductor.
