I have put efforts for many years into the study of macro trends in life (which is why I hang at this board, to learn better micro trading-plus I am fascinated at the level of intellect here--g).

So, I have watched this Medicare thing unfold and it is going to be ugly #msg-1890638 #msg-1855249. The problem is, the politicians have been pandering to AARP for votes so long that the bills for their foolishness simply cannot be paid by our children and grandchildren--cannot be done--WAY too high.

SS has kept many elderly above water ever so slightly.

"Are there no prisons?" asked Scrooge.

"Plenty of prisons," said the gentleman, laying down the pen again.

"And the Union workhouses." demanded Scrooge. "Are they still in operation?"

"They are. Still," returned the gentleman, "I wish I could say they were not."

"The Treadmill and the Poor Law are in full vigour, then?" said Scrooge.

"Both very busy, sir."

"Oh. I was afraid, from what you said at first, that something had occurred to stop them in their useful course," said Scrooge.

"I"m very glad to hear it."
