70-80 users tells me the technology works and the problem is execution which comes as no surprise to me. Globetel has been weak on execution for years now.
As long as the technology works we have the potential for good things. Now all the dead weight is gone, even though there are those on this board that still believe in individuals with poor performance records, there still is the opportunity for success.
rwehapi can you provide a link to the wifi planet article? I was unable to find it. There are methods for overcoming wifi problems as you probably know and they are not expensive.
That same poster on Wi-fi planet also posted this. I don't know if they are talking about the JV but who else is building a wireless network in Pachuca?
The question was "How many wifi clients will max out your router?"
His answer:
"I had a similar issue here in Pachuca Mexico. We have a wireless network and on one AP has over 30 Simultaneous connections within a small 100m area.
There are several factors that can affect the number of users per AP. The most important issue I found is Link Quality. If you have everyone node connecting with signal strength better than -59dbi than you can add a hundreds of nodes… However in the real world you have some connections at -85 others at -75 and some very good connections at -50….
I found that 30-40 wifi customers are fine in a outdoor model and in a indoor office model 100+ is Ok. I would never suggest going 200+…"
rwehapi2003..<The post from Wi-fi planet (While no way to prove it is related to the NMC project without further DD.) just confirms that someone is having issues with deploying some sort of wifi in Pachuca.>
I would also throw out for consideration that this post to Wi-Fi planet was a planted red-herring....to cause just such board banter, and more importantly, nebulous doubt in others' minds so targeted.
