Bobby I hope you don't mind me jumping in but I don't think tech stocks would continue to grow during a recession, particularly the blue chip tech stocks. During times of recession and/or uncertainty most corporations will boost inventories, cut spending and then cut head count. New technology comming out of the growth segment will benefit as always but if you go to the library and take a look at the Value Line books, you will see how the different industries fair during slow times.
I think gold will fair well against the US dollar but my belief revolves around the value of the dollar more than it does around supply/demand.

Don't agree with your opinion of corporations. We have a supply/demand picture there too. Contracts are made between corporations and employees where it seems to me that the corporations are liable for any wrong doing but the employees aren't. Morality or lack there of is reflected on both sides of the equation and is more a sign of the times then it is a great conspiracy of greed by corporations. After all, as a share holder of companies I expect some return on my money as well.
