My stocks trade sideways most of the time. I don't play with options since I have a cash account and fear margin accounts whereby one mistake could wipe out everything. I learned that the hard way in 2006. They gave me a margin account by mistake when I first opened my Scottrade. I made a trade and all of a sudden it automatically DOUBLED the amount of shares I wanted to buy. So the cost was DOUBLE my whole account cash value. Meaning the system used THEIR money on top of my own. I did not willingly place that trade. The system did it all by itself. I contacted Scottrade and they said there was nothing they could do as far as cancelling it. So LUCKY the stock went UP and I sold to get out ASAP ! Imagine if it went down, I would not only have lost my money, but owed the same amount to them ! Even brokerages are crooked. So I remain in cash accounts only. I am not evil besides and never would short anything. Shor-ting hurts someone else and my conscience does not allow me to hurt others.
