Yes, I agree the body needs cholesterol. I did read somewhere about cholesterol going to repair artery walls due to inflammation (sort of like a scab). Then must get stuck there forming plaque.
Ram, I don't disagree. I'm just basing it on scientific studies I've read about. And FWIW, there is also evidence that statins actually REDUCE the incidence of A/D.
But I also think that all of this stuff is far more complex than the "headlines" often try to make it. There are just so many variables when it comes to human health. Which is why you hear so many anecdotes about the "grandmother that smoked 2 packs a day for 70 years and lived to 95" and stuff like that.
I'm actually starting to believe that the whole "social connection" aspect of people's lives is far more important than all the health stuff.
