Range bound happens because the brakes are taken off in a lightly traded stock until the chosen selling point arrives for the chosen volume able to be unloaded. Obviously financing plays a significant part in this as do those working along side of them including longs with trading positions. News or real strong anticipation of it is what will create the breakout. The cycle we are in points to an expected breakout with a hoped for but indeterminate time frame. Both FeMike and flipper44 are pointing at this chart for the same reason. Some others have been pointing to peripheral potential evidence of this expectation as well.
