Plug also announced that it will suspend construction of six plants nationally, which were the backbone of a Department of Energy loan guarantee worth $1.66 billion, and reallocate capital toward higher-return opportunities across its hydrogen network.

The most likely partner in the agreement is Stream Data Centers, LLC, which has been exploring the development of a massive data center in the WNY STAMP industrial park.

As for STREAM's plans, it continues to receive opposition within the region. The Tonawanda Seneca Nation and local residents have focused complaints about the plans on potential noise, water use, and environmental impacts that have reportedly plagued other communities where data centers have been located.
