I also wonder why the designers (with knowledge of STRENGTH), would attempt to test this failed mixture. Surely they would have been aware of REDUCE-IT and that a successful test of another EPA/DHA mixture would create more questions than answers. Anyone with half a brain would have used pure EPA. BTW: The ratio of EPA:DHA in STRENGTH was 2.75:1
Thanks for posting the trial. Something to note, seems like PISCES used "ethyl ester" EPA/DHA, meaning the EPA portion is indeed Icosapent Ethyl. STRENGTH used a free fatty acid formulation (omega 3 carboxylic acids). There was speculation prior to this that the ethyl ester form may be superior due to more stability/less susceptibility to oxidation. PISCES seems to yet add more weight to this view.
Another thing to note is that Reduce-IT CKM (Kidney Metabolic Syndrome) event lines seem remarkably similar to PISCES event lines.
