Everyone who doesn't want AI running their computer needs to learn all of the opt-outs that are offered and then move on to the 3rd party apps that can stop the rest. If you buy a new computer, do all of that before you ever log into any of your apps.

As if Apple won't be doing exactly what Microsoft is. Bothsides! They're ALL the same!

No, they aren't all the same. Apple has always been different, in that it's principally a hardware company, not a software company, which is what MSFT is. That has led to it developing the kind of products MSFT doesn't even work on. In the past, it's also created problems for the company, but once Jobs came up with the iPod, the company was ready for its second showtime. The iPhone, which can fairly be said to have changed the entire way we think about telephones and telephonic communication, put the cherry on top.

Apple can do what it wants, and the others should always keep an eye open. Sadly, Jobs died and no one with his abilities replaced him. But they may come up with a surprise. So far, they're doing nothing very interesting with AI, and haven't developed an LLM of their own.

I am FARRR from being an Apple Fanboy (my phone is an Android and our business is nearly 100% Windows based) but I can tell you that from a support perspective the two companies are nowhere near the same.

In the IT world, Microsoft's support is a running joke. It pretty much does not exist. Open a support ticket for a corporate product where lots is at stake and you likely will either a) never hear back from Microsoft or b) will be connected with someone whose English is limited and who has no IT experience...reading from a script.

I have a ticket open with them on a major problem accessing software licenses. No response. It's infuriating.

On the other hand, we sometimes need to reach out to Apple on various issues and someone picks up the phone almost immediately. They are based in the USA, they understand their products and they actually provide help.
