The mets will probably make the playoffs even with this (But the fact that it is probably at this point, and that they have played this bad for this long, is a problem), there is no excuse for a team to be this bad offensively with this much talent for two months this isn't a small stretch at this point, it is a huge part of the season to be dead last in runs scored for two months. They have been brutal with risp all year, and now they are not even getting on base.

Now If I wanted to be optimistic for a second. I thought Senga was much better in that game, and I think he is getting closer and took a step yesterday despite the 5th inning getting away from him, with the two errors one of which was his own. Keep in mind after being out 3 weeks he only has 1 rehab start, hence I think he needed more.

Second I think Manaea looked excellent his last start until the 6th inning where the wheels fell off, but that is part of extending him and building them up in the big leagues rather than the minors. So I think there three top guys on the rotation will be really solid. I don't know what to root for today as a mets fan, the mets need a win desperately but rooting for montas to do well is bad in the long run, I need the mets to give up on this guy, it was a horrible mistake to sign him, it is really that simple. Holmes innings at this point is concerning, but he did pitch well his last start.

The bullpen might be the best bullpen the mets ever had, yes it is really that good.

But it comes back to this offense and chemistry which has seemed off all year to say the least and if anything it seems to be getting worse. Last year team was not as talented but far more likeable to watch, more guts, and they would make more out of less. This team does the opposite make less out of more. even when they were winning, there inability to drive runners in when it comes to scoring position situation is scary. You are right it is about getting hot at the right time, and the mets certainly have a ton of talent if they remember what hitting looks like at some point. But they have been a very frustrating watch outside of 2007 I don't think I've disliked a good mets team more at times, they have driven me up the nearest wall on numerous occasions. Thing is I still think the mets would have to play terrible for almost the next two months to lose a playoff spot which is plus, and as you said often the hot team win in the playoff not necessarily the best team. And at some point this roster is just too talented not to get hot in my opinion. But still a very frustrating watch is what I call the 2025 massively underachieving mets. This should be a easy 95-100 win team, I'm not sure they win even 90. All is just my opinion, and I could always be wrong though.
