Hi Joe,

I did a daily chart backtest on NAIL using a 15/30 EMA crossover strategy. The daily time frame seems best suited for this — monthly would be too nerve-wracking for me.

I call this the “Buy-and-Hold AIM Method”:

Buy on an uptrend crossover (15 EMA crosses above the 30 EMA).

Hold as long as the uptrend remains.

Sell on a downtrend crossover (15 EMA crosses below the 30 EMA).

No guesswork — I chose November 11, 2022, as the starting point, since that's when the crossover clearly began an upward trend. I’m not cherry-picking entry points — I’m just following the chart.

📈 Backtest Results: Starting with $10,000
Entry Date Entry Price Exit Date Exit Price Resulting Value
Nov 11, 2022 $31.54 Mar 9, 2023 $40.28 $12,771
Mar 31, 2023 $44.75 Aug 21, 2023 $66.38 $18,944
Nov 10, 2023 $59.11 Apr 15, 2024 $106.40 $34,273
May 17, 2024 $117.23 May 21, 2024 $105.93 $30,838
July 16, 2024 $124.46 Oct 25, 2024 $142.14 $35,218
July 1, 2025 $61.46 Still open ? ?

Let me know what you think.

Hi Joe

I use LETF's in a less aggressive manner, interesting to see such remarkable results from AIM however. Thanks for sharing.

Hopefully self explanatory

i.e attempt to emulate a stock index characteristic of a left tail of losers, right tail of winners, central section that collectively is more cash like. Rebalance once/year. Sometimes the LETF will be the right (good case) tail, in other years the left tail, where there's a degree of inverse correlation between stocks and gold (so if LETF are the left tail hopefully gold will be the right tail).
