What I find ironic is all the billions in bills that get signed to accelerate funding for cancer, Alzheimer’s, etc and here we are with no efficacious approved drug.
The U.S. medical industrial complex is all about money for treatments, not cures. A perfect example is the lower blood pressure guidelines adopted a few years ago by the American Heart Association. The current recommended maximum 130 systolic level only results in a 1.5% reduction in a projected ten-year cardiovascular event for a person with a 150 systolic number, reducing the ten-year risk number from 6.5% to 5%. As part of the "sell" effort, the medical industrial complex harps on lowering salt intake. One medical abstract referenced in the link below reports that drastic salt reduction results in less than a 1% reduction in blood pressure. The bottom line is that tool little salt is potentially much more harmful than too much sale. We all should have leaned from the big government Covid vaccine experiment that big medicine is about big pharma profits, not our health.
God forbid FDA drug approvals require a rigorous scientific review.
You are going to regret your position when the scientific barriers are down, political influence will wash unimpeded over the decision making process, and any moat that an approved blarcamesine indication would otherwise enjoy is gone. Oh -- and approved drugs are no longer as safe.
