Good point. It's a combination of time lost but experience gained. Would an experienced PIC company have learned a lot more during that period? I would think so, but your point is well taken. They can share what they learned with the new guys.
And they were continuing to test and enhance the materials during that time so it's not as though all the eggs were in the PIC basket.
There were hurdles though with the PIC - otherwise they would have succeeded. Hopefully those can be overcome with more experienced companies.
I do have an impression that the material is goofy to work with - ie that every change made potentially creates unexpected results from the polymer material. I recall seeing something maybe 6 months ago that led me to think that..not to mention the 12+ years of development before that! :) ...but I do agree with you that we probably will get some announcements of partners willing to work on it. Kind of surprised we haven't heard that from GFS already.
