A “stealth” switch out of inP to polymer? Seems like they would owe clients and explanation? Presumably rationale for not disclosing publicly would be for competitive reasons. Seems unlikely, but who knows
It certainly could but it is ok if not, like Marco said, it is proof that the industry is moving in the direction of 200g per lane. There will be early adopters of polymer because of the longer runway we provide as far as performance goes, speed, power and size. 200G is just the beginning.
11/18/2024 For Immediate Release COHERENT LAUNCHES HIGH-SPEED PHOTODIODES FOR 1.6T TRANSCEIVERS PITTSBURGH, Nov. 18, 2024 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) – Coherent Corp. (NYSE: COHR), a global leader in high-performance optical networking solutions, has announced the production release of high-speed indium phosphide (InP) photodiodes.
It is most likely InP modulators using EML lasers. I don't believe LWLG has been using that solution. Using EML lasers as opposed to DML results in a clearly larger configuration which I believe LWLG wants to avoid. DML is simpler and less costly as an option.
